Christmas at the Sass House

We headed up to Washington Christmas Eve (our Christmas) afternoon.
I honestly did not think that we would actually go.
Darn snow.
As most of you know, and experienced, we got hit by a big snow storm that seemed to last forever. There were plenty of days in the week before Christmas where I was stuck at home because I did not want to brave the roads. I am not afraid of driving in the snow. Someone who has lived in Idaho can't be afraid of that. I am, however, afraid of snow + hills (which Portland has a few of) + no snow plows. There were also some times when I wasn't allowed to drive because they made it mandatory that every vehicle in our county had to have chains on. We recently bought a new car, so no chains here... yet. Luckily, the buses around here drive through almost anything, apparently, and Tom was able to make it to work most days. There were a couple days where even the bus wouldn't come out to our neck of the woods and Tom couldn't make it in. Oh, those were bad snow days. One day Tom waited at the bus stop, in the snow, for an hour. Brr.
Anyway, Tom never lost hope that the weather would clear and we would be able to make it up to Washington. I thought he was in denial, because everything was pointing to the opposite. He was right though. After our Christmas morning, Tom starting packing and by the time he was done it was raining. The worst parts were getting from our house to the freeway, at the beginning of our trip, and the freeway to the Sass house, at the end of our trip. The freeway in between was clear.
We spent Christmas morning with Tom's family. Logan was excited to "pretend" that it was Christmas again. Two days of Christmas... score!
We spent our time... opening presents...
Playing with presents...

And just hanging out...
