Game Library

I have been trying to find some ways to be more active in life. I find exercise extremely boring and therefore usually don't stick to it for too long. A couple months ago I started getting up in the mornings and taking Jesse for a walk before Tom leaves for work. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed that and looked forward to it. The only problem is that at 6:00 am I usually am not in the mood to get out of bed and put my walking shoes on. So on the days that I don't get up and walk Jesse I decided to take a walk with Logan. There is a cool little shopping center not too far from our house that I decided we should walk to one day. It takes about 20-30 minutes to get there, depending on how much Logan is being pushed in the stroller and how much he is pushing the stroller. It is a pretty cool place. (Thank you Byron and Jennifer for introducing us to it. I think that was before we even knew we were going to be moving down here.) There is a big fountain where you can always find kids playing on a sunny day. There is a small branch of the library where Logan and I go and read. There are some shops and restaurants. There is even a Nestle Tollhouse Cafe. I never knew those existed. Anyway... I should focus and get to my point here.
Yesterday Logan and I walked down there and after going to the library and walking around a bit, I decided that we should continue on a quest of mine and try to find a pinwheel for Logan and Bridget. (Logan has wanted one ever since we saw them on a walk with Jennifer and Bridget. I even tried to make some with them, and although they were cute, they didn't work as well as they could have.) We walked to Walgreens and QFC... no luck. We passed by Piccolo Mondo Toys and decided to check there. After a quick look around I realized they had no pinwheels and was ready to leave. Logan, on the other hand, had found heaven in a corner filled with Thomas track and trains to play with. I decided to let him play while I looked around for a little bit. It really shouldn't have taken me very long, the store is pretty small, but we were there for about 40 minutes. I wasn't planning on purchasing anything (other than a pinwheel), but felt guilty for hanging out for so long and found some little maracas for $5 to buy. I figured that Logan's entertainment for that long was worth the money. As I was checking out (and this is where I get to my point) the cashier told me about their Game Library. It is a free service they have where you can check out games for a week at at time. I decided to give it a try. The cashier was so helpful. She brought down a big stack of games that were appropriate for Logan's age and took the time to explain each one to me. I think it is a perfect way to try out a game before you buy it. For instance, the game that we borrowed is a little too much for Logan. It is for ages 4-99. (Why 100 year olds can't play I am not sure. I have met some 100 year olds that were pretty with it. It is a German came though. Maybe they don't let you play games past 99 in Germany.) Logan can usually handle games for 4 year olds, but not this one. Their handy dandy game library helped me figure that out so now I know not to buy it. They should have a Toy Library also.

Your post has made me decide that I am going to be the one that stays home with our future kids. Thanks!
That sounds like the coolest toy store ever. When Joey was little I worked at Imaginarium and whenever a customer came in looking for toys for a 0-2 year old, all the staff would say "Let me introduce you to the "Joey" section of the store... and our expert, Kari". I also remember I couldn't wait until he was old enough for the Playmobile because it was so cool--I even put together a whole house for someone at Christmas time, because I thought it was so fun. Ahhh, the good ole days. By the way, we held on to all the boys' Brio Trains... I'm sure Sammy would love to dig them out of storage for Logan when he comes to visit!
That was a good day Andy. I am not sure if you would survive a bad one.
Kari- How fun it would be to work at a toy store when you have young children. Logan would need a much bigger room to fit all the toys I would buy him though.
