Rope Swing
Friday, May 13, 2011
After spending a few days at Aunt Sarah's house, where there is a rope swing out back, Logan decided that he wanted his very own.
This all started with a "lasso" that Logan was trying to throw and hook over our trellis... or arbor... or pergola... whatever it is. Once he had the rope hooked around it, he thought it would be the perfect place for a rope swing.
Normally, this is the point where I would say, "Yeah, that sounds like a great project for you and Dad to do," but this time I said, "Yeah, let's do it right now."
So we did.
And we are very proud of ourselves.
I mean, yes, it is just a rope and a piece of wood.
But we did have to cut the wood and dig out a hole in the middle for the rope. (Tom's drill was, unfortunately not around, so the hole took a little longer than we had hoped.)
We love it though, and we are pretty sure that Logan is not going to go flying off into the woods.

Dig out a hole? What did you use, a spoon?
Oh, a spoon! That would have been so much easier!!!
Good job, mama! What DID you use to dig out a hole??
Honestly Heidi, I am not sure what I used. Am I supposed to know the name of every tool Tom has? :) I hope not. I just dug through drawers until I found something sharp and skinny. Whatever it was, it worked. It might have been slow going, but I think the hole turned out very nicely.
