Sleep Disorders

I have posted before of my... uh, nightly activities.
They haven't gone away.
In fact, I think they have gotten worse.
Tom started threatening divorce if something didn't change. (Not really, but he does sleep on the couch sometimes. He says it is quite comfortable.)
"Fine, I will go see a doctor."
My doctor referred me to a sleep clinic. The sleep specialist started throwing around words like Sleep Apnea and Parasomnias. She thinks I have a combination of both and wanted me to have a sleep study done. You know, where you get to sleep at the hospital and they hook you up to all sorts of wires and then they videotape you as you sleep. As fun as that sounds, I didn't like the $2000 price tag that came along with it.
"Isn't there something else we can try first?" I asked.
She said we could focus just on the Parasomnia and try to treat it with medication. I did an internet search on Parasomnias and here are a few quotes...
"...extreme panic and a sudden, loud, terrified scream during sleep, followed by physical activities such as hitting objects or moving in and out of the bedroom. Persons with this disorder can injure themselves...
...patients act out distinctly altered dreams that are vivid, intense, action-packed, and violent. Dream-enacting behaviors include talking, yelling, punching, kicking, sitting, jumping out of bed, arm flailing, and grabbing...
...vivid nocturnal events that can cause feelings of fear, terror, and/or anxiety..."
Yup, that sounds about right.
I can pick up my new medication later today. I am going to sleep well tonight.
